Coach’s reason for honor: “Andrew ran the fourth-fastest 3,200 in PV history ... to qualify for the Drake Relays,” coach Erik Belby said. “His time is currently ranked No. 4 on the 2009 3,200 list for Iowa.” Andrew also ran to the “third straight title in the Drake Relays 4x800 relay; fourth in the 1,600-meter run at Drake with a personal best of 4:23.75 and 11th in the 3,200-meter run at Drake.”

Student’s reaction to honor: “It’s surprising, I guess. I’ve never really thought I’d be chosen. It’s a really good feeling. Plus, all the other athletes are really good.”

Future goals: “To run track and try to win individual state titles in track. Also, graduate from college in a medical field, probably sports medicine.”
