Coach’s reason for recognition: “Joey is a great leader on and off the mat. He is one of our hardest-working kids, and hate to see him leave,” coach Dan Knight said. “In my eyes, he is a state champion.”

Student’s goals: “Go on to college and continue wrestling.”

Student’s reacting to the honor: “It’s really nice. My whole team is deserving of this honor,” he said. “We had a lot of fun this year. We all worked our butts off. Without my teammates and coaches, I wouldn’t be the wrestler I am now.”
