Coach’s reason for recognition: “Kayla is a positive influence on and off the field,” coach Mark Lewis said. “Besides being an incredible ball player, Kayla is always there for her team and coaches and is an inspiration for younger Bettendorf athletes.”

Student’s goals: “I want to continue playing softball in college, and I plan on studying sports medicine.”

Student’s reaction to the honor: “I was very excited that I was picked for Athlete of the Week,” Kayla said. “There are a lot of great athletes in our program, and I feel honored to have been chosen.”
