Pediatric Center

At ORA Orthopedics, our pediatric orthopedic physicians specialize in evaluating and treating children’s injuries and problems. They are trained and experienced in treating a variety of conditions from general pediatric fractures to more complicated conditions, including clubfoot, neuromuscular conditions, and scoliosis.

Scoliosis, a curvature of the spine, is a condition that most commonly affects children. It is often congenital or can be caused by poor muscle control and weakness related to diseases such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. The type of treatment a patient receives depends on various factors, including the cause of scoliosis, the size and location of the curve, and how much growing the patient is expected to experience. Treatment options include bracing and surgery.

Clubfoot is a congenital condition in which the foot is turned inward and downward, making it difficult to walk, among other activities. Since this condition is present at birth, it is best if treated for right away. Our specialists are able to reshape and straighten the foot using a cast. The pediatric specialists at ORA Orthopedics utilize Dr. Ignacio Ponseti’s method for treating clubfoot. Dr. Ponseti developed a nonsurgical casting method that aligns the clubfoot by manipulating ligaments and tendons while applying plaster casts to the full leg. The plaster casts are changed as the legs develop.
