Favorite Quote:

“Why do we fall sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.” – Alfred Pennyworth (Batman Begins)

Favorite book or movie and why?

My favorite book is “Dune” by Frank Herbert. I love this book because it really let my imagination create an image of this vast world that I fell in love with. I feel like I take something new from the book every time I read it.

How do you like to spend your weekends?

I love spending my weekends with my wife, Megan, and our two dogs, Hazel and River. We enjoy going to the movies, trying new restaurants, and taking the dogs on walks or to the dog park.

Hazel and River had a blast playing at Crow Creek Park!

What are your interests and activities outside of work?

My biggest interests outside of work are traveling, baseball, and watching tv and movies. We love getting to explore new areas and trying new things when we travel.

Name one person you would like to meet and why.

Babe Ruth! I have loved baseball since I can remember, and he just seemed to epitomize why people fall in love with baseball. Plus, I share a birthday with him, and we are both left handed.

Where would you most like to travel but have never been?

Either Japan, Australia, or New Zealand.

What made you decide to become a physician, specifically a podiatric surgeon?

Christopher Collazo, D.P.M.

I always had a love for science and eventually found myself shadowing physicians, which helped me decide medicine was the career I wanted to pursue. I ultimately found that being a podiatric surgeon matched with my personal and professional goals.

What do you like best about practicing medicine?

I like the people the most when talking about practicing medicine. I have always felt that every person has a story, and it’s very rewarding getting to know a patient and helping people. Every patient presents an opportunity for you to learn from and grow as a physician.

What inspires you most about your patients?

I think that the patients themselves are inspiring, and it is very inspiring to see a patient persevere in their road to recovery. Patients are also an inspiration to keep striving to advance yourself as a doctor, and a surgeon to continue to provide the best and most advanced care as possible.

If there is one piece of advice you wish your patients would take to heart, what would it be?

I would like for patients to know that their care is a team approach. Yes, they come to the doctor for help in their care and the tools to recovery. However, I want them to feel empowered to use those tools on their own to aid in their recovery.
